Disaster and more disaster: Myanmar and China
Pray for Myanmar, for the government to soften their heart, so that international helps can flow freely into this military controlled country.
Recently the Cyclone Nargis has hit the city of Yangon (Rangon) quite badly, and although the official government report a death toll of 20thousand+, independent sources revealed that the death toll could be more than 100thousand at the moment.
What is worst, due to the bad condition, weather, and lack of water, sanitation, the cholera outbreak can happen any time. Experts predicted a death of 1.5 Million people should the government continued to prohibit the overseas help to come in.
Report shows that the dead bodies are piled everywhere, no place to bury, and the bodies were left as it is or thrown into the river. Drinking water are contaminated.
The military government is willing to accept the help, on condition that they will claim that they are the one come out with the money/resources to help the people. They want to take all the credit, and that is not agreeable to most charity organizations.
Pray that they will change. Pray that during this opportunity, christian organizations can come in. Pray that the Christians will not abuse this chance to evangelize, but rather to show true love and care for the people in need.
Secondly. I just heard from the news today, that in Province of Sze Chuan, China, today's afternoon has been an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 Richter scale. The quake hit WenChuan county where 112000 people lived. 80% of building collapsed. more than 7800 people died. The death toll is expected to rise as more bodies are recovered.
Pray that China government will be able to act fast and send down troops to help recover and rescue trapped people. Pray that christians in the area will be able to show care and love to the affected victims in the region.
